Stuck

I am sitting on the airplane at the gate in LAX and confused why my flight is delayed 3 HOURS due to weather. Don’t they say it never rains in Southern California??

All in all, my trip to LA has been super! Hiking, beach, shopping, In-n-Out Burger, Mexican food, farmer’s market, Rodger Room!

Keep you posted on San Fran.

Sun and Succulents

So far my trip to LA has been super! Went to the beach, had a great poulet salad, the most amazing $40 hour-long Thai massage ever, and the best part is that succulents are everywhere!

Beautiful Morning

The Cherry Blossoms were out in full force this morning!

Made my morning commute much happier.

R.I.P.

I brought my beloved to the bike shop today…

They told me I might be able to salvage the basket (but they didn’t think it was a terrible idea to just buy a new basket too). So many highs and lows in one week.

My Bike

I’ve been in the market for the last week or so for a nice, Mary Poppins bicycle. Imagine my complete surprise and excitement when tonight, on a whim, I decided to search on Craigslist and found the perfect bike listed for FREE. Now you might be thinking…”whatever, bikes are often listed for free on Craigslist.” However, this one was right down the block!

And I introduce you to my new bike…

Now, beside some tires, maybe a new seat, and maybe new brakes, all I need is a bell! I am overflowing with excitement. I mean, it has a basket!

MoMA

1. I am now officially a real person with a membership and all. I felt sooo very special going to the members only coat check.

2. Went to see Gabriel Orozco = very funny.

3. Obviously, went to see Tim Burton. Aside from the millions of people cramped into the exhibit, I really enjoyed it. Brought back lots of memories of Tim Burton movie past – not being allowed to see Batman when it came out in theaters, being forced to turn off Beetlejuice because my younger brother was too little to see something so scary.

Now that I’m a real person (MoMA membership and all) and I am allowed to watch whatever movie I please, I do see a Tim Burton marathon in my future.

Cause I know you were wondering too…

Someone special in my life loooveeeeeeeessssss marble cake. This person has been asking me to make them marble cake for a couple months now and I’ve always been perplexed by the concept. How do they get the swirl of chocolate into the otherwise boring pound cake?

Well, my procrastination has paid off because this someone decided to finally take matters into their own hands. As I stood in awe last night, I learned that the chocolate is simply swirled in. That’s right. You make a normal cake and then pour some chocolaty cake on top and swirl.

It seems so simple now…

A Commentary on Patience

Despite the image this is not a post about cooking but rather an observation – a self-discovery, if you will.

I “recently” made potato latkes and, while examining the documented images, noticed something…

I clearly got too hungry to wait for nice little latkes to cook and decided to just make one giant mush. I swear I didn’t even realize I was doing this. Don’t worry, I had no trouble devouring the entire tray of greasy, potato-y, onion-y goodness.

Hanukkah Update

Never in my life have I actually received a present every day for 8 days during the festival of lights. But Derkins is getting me as close as can be.

Now that I’ve officially received (thanks to a search through my discarded emails) my NYMag subscription e-card (can’t wait!) and my new hair powder, I’m halfway there.

Go day 5! “Oh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay…and when it’s dry and ready oh dreidel I shall play!”

P.S. Had a riveting game of dreidel on Sunday night and got a gimmel almost every time.
