scary how the time flies.

1. quit the gym. give to charity. yes, you read correctly. i donate money to nysc monthly and it is time to stop. instead, i’ll make more of an effort to donate to actual charities. this nifty little website is helping me get started – [52x52.org]

2. eat less carnivorously, more healthy. i’ve recently become inspired by some of the people around me to eat less meat and make more health-conscious decisions about food. and i’m about to turn 30 this year so a little effort to reverse age couldn’t hurt… [no meat, no dairy, no problem]

3. go on an information diet? in efforts to absorb as much information as possible, i’ve become a scanner. as in i scan the headlines but rarely bother to dive in-depth. i’m not sure if this is such a terrible thing so it’s a question mark. i’m saying this as i subscribe to yet another rss feed… but i really ought to spend less time surfing needlessly on facebook. too frequently i end up learning something better left unknown.

4. productively, creatively. this one is now a resolution repeat three years in a row. when i’m home, sitting on the couch and mindlessly watching netflix/hulu or surfing the web is just too easy of a habit. my mind wants to be more productive with projects but my lazy ass keeps winning. i think this is going to be a life-long battle. 5. show love better. i come from a a family that practices tough love. i can probably count the times my mom has told me she loves me with two hands. and you can forget about dad, his love is expressed through cash. so instead, mom shows her love by constantly criticizing my sister and i because somehow this translates into “i’m telling you this because i care.” i know they both deeply love me but that is not how i want to live my life and i’m afraid of becoming more like them as time passes. i am fighting very hard to avoid this.
